This mark brings together the two elements the Authority manages every day: water and the environment. The blue droplets represent supply, flow, and the systems that keep clean water moving across the county. The green leaf anchors the logo in sustainability and stewardship—an acknowledgment that water quality and environmental responsibility are inseparable.

The typography reinforces stability and public trust. “Water” carries visual weight to reflect the core service, while “Authority” grounds the identity with a sense of governance and accountability. The overall structure is clear, functional, and built for long-term public use across print, digital, and fleet applications.

The Clayton County Water Authority (CCWA) is the public utility responsible for delivering water, wastewater, and stormwater services to residents and businesses throughout Clayton County, Georgia — a densely populated county just south of Atlanta. CCWA+2Invest Clayton+2

Founded in 1955 by an act of the state legislature, CCWA began serving just a few hundred customers. Today, the authority supports more than 270,000 residents across the unincorporated county and its six cities, managing roughly 82,000 customer accounts. CCWA+2CCWA+2

CCWA’s operations are extensive: it draws raw water from five county reservoirs (plus supplemental supply via the Flint River), and runs three water-treatment facilities capable of producing up to 42 million gallons of potable water per day. On the wastewater side, CCWA treats up to 38.4 million gallons of wastewater each day and maintains approximately 1,300 miles of sewer lines and 1,500 miles of water distribution lines. A distinguishing feature of CCWA is its commitment to sustainable, resilient water management. When local water supplies were strained during regional droughts, CCWA’s innovative use of treatment-wetlands allowed it to recycle wastewater back into usable supply — a practice that earned national industry attention. The Authority’s dedication to high-quality water and infrastructure maintenance has been recognized repeatedly. Its water-quality laboratory has earned consecutive “Quality Assurance Gold” awards; its distribution and collection systems have won multi-year “Platinum” performance awards; and its most recent Consumer Confidence Report was judged the best among comparable large surface-water utilities. CCWA operates without local tax funding — relying solely on revenue from water, sewer, and stormwater services. CCWA+1

In short: CCWA stands out not only for its size and scale, but also for its forward-looking stewardship of water resources, commitment to community service, and operational excellence. For a community of over a quarter-million people, CCWA is more than a utility — it’s a critical, responsibly managed backbone of public health and environment, which magnifies the significance of a logo and brand identity designed to represent it.
